Planning your wedding is one of the most exciting seasons of your life, but knowing where to start (and when to do everything) can feel overwhelming. Don't stress, you are not alone, we are here to help guide you through every little detail with our ultimate wedding planning timeline.

At Amore Brides Canterbury, we guide brides through their wedding dress journey every single day, so let’s get started.

When should I actually start planning my wedding?

This ia a loaded question, but to make it simple, here’s your ultimate month-by-month wedding planning timeline, designed for UK brides.

Wedding Planning Timeline - 12-18 Months Before Your Wedding

This is where the magic begins.

☑️ Set your wedding budget Knowing your wedding budget will really help to lay out the first plans for the big day! It helps you by putting a value on each component of the wedding and also you to allocate funds for the most important parts of your wedding day.

☑️ Create your wedding guest list draft This is really helpful when trying to figure out your budget and when choosing your wedding venue.

☑️ Choose your wedding date

☑️ Book your ceremony and reception venue

☑️ Start researching wedding styles and inspiration

No matter where you are getting married, popular venues tend to book up quickly, so securing your date early is key.

It's also a good idea to begin researching bridal boutiques and wedding designers you love. Even if you’re not ready to shop just yet, building a mood board will help to clarify your vision.

Wedding Planning Timeline - 12 Months Before The Big Day

With 12 months to go on your wedding planning timeline, it’s time to start thinking seriously about your dress.

Wedding gowns are typically made to order and can take 6-8 months to arrive, you also need to take into account additional time for alterations and this can be up to 3 months depending on the alterations needed. It’s important that at 12 months out, the wedding dress is your main focus, this will allow you to research all of the dress options, as dresses from luxury designers like Pen-liv and Pronovias will take up to 8 months to arrive.

This is the perfect moment to:

☑️ Book your bridal appointments It is important to book your bridal appointments at this stage. If you are within the Kent area, Amore Brides is the largest bridal boutique in Kent and offer over 300 designer gowns.

☑️ Try different silhouettes Try as many differnet options as possible. At Amore Brides we offer a personalised tailored service to suit each bride. We will help you with styling to get the perfect dress for the big day.

☑️ Discuss your wedding budget openly with your stylist Your consultant will always know the dress for you, the perfect one that ticks all the boxes for the style and budget of your big day.

We recommend beginning your wedding dress search at around the 9-12 month mark, to allow for a relaxed, enjoyable experience, without the time pressure. You are making memories and each step of the wedding planning process is part of your wedding, so enjoy it!

Wedding Planning Timeline - 9 Months Before Your Wedding Day
